Manal Aboutayeb has been Community Manager at Explee for just under two months (an online software which allows non technical users to create amazing and pedagogical videos). I found out about her through her posts on the Explee Blog, which I really enjoyed. She gave us a straight-forward explanation of her job: Community Manager, a position that came into existence around 10 years ago with the advent of the digital world.

“To get across the culture of the community”

Imagine you had to explain your work as Community Manager at Explee to my little 11-year-old cousin…

Being Community Manager at Explee involves getting across the culture of the community revolving around a startup.

It doesn’t just mean getting this community going, but keeping its members interested and making it more widespread. We need to keep this community up-to-date regarding the direction that the startup is taking.

It also involves giving them an idea of the atmosphere here at Le Camping, in which Explee is currently immersed, letting them in on the founders’ vision, trying to create an identity out of that vision!

This, of course, ranges from writing blog articles to sharing content that should interest this community.

“It’s very different to life in large companies which tends to be much more cold!”

Are you new to this world of startups?

I really wanted to find an internship at a startup within a business accelerator, and it was all the easier for me to get involved with Explee as the co-founders (Thomas and Morgan) are part of the incubator at my school (Télécom SudParis)!

As far as the world of startups is concerned, it has always interested me enormously. I’ve also been very lucky with Explee to have landed at Le Camping, as it creates a unique environment with a real feeling of living and working together, of sharing.

If I ask you to describe Le Camping in three adjectives?

I would say… effervescent, friendly, inspiring!
