The magic of design
As promised, we come to our third “skiller”, Tiffany Hughes, design skiller. Over the period of a month Tiffany helped our startups rethink their design and the user experience of their sites & mobile devices.
She came all the way from Dallas and told us what she thought of her month in Paris, at Le Camping… interview!
Where do you come from?
My current home base is Dallas, Texas, USA. My background is heavy in taking a lead creative role in online advertising and working in startup environments, both for someone else & for myself. This is my first time working directly with an accelerator.
Why did you decide to work at Le Camping?
In our industry, there are a million conferences & workshops being offered. To be honest, I don’t feel like I get a lot out of sitting in a room with 100 people while someone talks.
Le Camping was a way to gain direct experience & effect change in a rapid & tangible way.
For me, spending the time here is better than any conference or workshop I could ever attend. I’ve been challenged more in the last 3 weeks than my entire career!
What impressions did you get of the startups?
There are a lot of great, disruptive solutions to various problems being developed.
The spirit of the participants is incredibly contagious, motivating and exciting to be around.
The range of product/service focus is quite diverse. The teams have been very receptive to advice & feedback while not compromising their original focus. It’s important to be open to new direction or change but also be confident in your own opinions and knowledge of your product/service.
And what impressions did you get of “Le Camping”?
I’ve absolutely loved my time here. I come in and literally look up at the clock and 8 or 10 hours have gone by quickly.
I think Le Camping has created an environment that provides great support but forces the teams to put in the work and hold up their end of the pact, so to speak.
I knew I made the right decision to come over and work with Le Camping when I found myself awake at night trying to think of solutions to various problems that popped up with the startups because I was too excited to wait till the next day!
